Water

I bring life
to the marine lives,
which need to survive.
I bring satisfaction
to living things,
which need to quench
their thirst.

I bring destruction
to buildings and lands,
as I devour
every single thing
coming in my way.
I bring horror
to people lives,
that they can ever imagine.

I am needed
in survival and death,
and I cannot control
myself any longer,
as I can only go
with the flow.

  12. This is beautiful. The flow (no pun intended) is gorgeous. Lush.

If I might be bold and suggest something, I’d use another word like “sustenance” instead of “life” in first line, because you use the “marine lives/survive” rhyme just after and the previous word “life” is too close to it? Just a thought, and PLEASE don’t take offense.

I loved this offering and drop by often. You have a gift!

  13. Liked the way you portrayd the life giving as well as destructive nature of water… sea. I was there with the team in volunteering for the tsunami victims in 2005 when it hit the coastal Chennai and Cuddalore near pondicherry.. I wrote a verse about it too…
    Anyways I liked your writing..

  20. I think you have caught the essence of water very well – yes, it can be incredibly destructive, and yet, we need it for our very survival – we ARE water… lovely

  21. love your perspective of water..
    beautiful flow.
    Thanks for sharing!

  22. Loved your use of the duality of water both as lifesaving element as well as a bringer of destruction. The idea of ‘loss of control’ over such a powerful force is really underlined in your work. Very enjoyable read, glad you posted this on the Monday Potluck!

  23. This is a great water poem. So true that it is needed for life and yet deserves our respect/fear. Nicely done.

…now that’s TRUTH…love this take on the prompt!

  26. Water is our life source..the bringer of both pleasure and pain..you’ve captured that interdependence beautifully! Wonderful poem and illustration…

  27. Excellent take on the prompt! Awesome post! =)

  28. Very good poem. You have captured the two sides of water…both the good side and the bad. We can’t live without it, but dont want too much of it at one time!

  29. You are right… we need water for life, but it also destroys! never looked at it that way before. Mother Nature, I understand, but was not thinking about water! Depthful response, great writing!

  30. An Ode to water and its true powers…Remember the earth and our body are made up of mainly water.

We lose water and – we die.

  31. Love the blue image up top:) You’ve captured both the need for and fear of huge bodies of water………….
