Daydreaming

I remember
thousands of blades
struck deep into my body
piercing through me
as if I am nothing
pain and fear
devoured me

The figure come closer
I wanted to flee
but my legs numbed themselves
I cry in silence
and took a deep breath
wonder what is going
to happen next

The figure lifted up a book
aiming towards me
I am shocked
am I seeing things?
Yes I am seriously
seeing things
the book came flying
and
it is too late
it knocked me back
into darkness…

  1. Wonderful piece, telling of the darkness, the pain.

  2. This works on a number of levels, hinting at that fine line between teaching and correcting, truth and torture, nightmare and real life conspiring across many layers of dream.

  3. it is okay to daydream at times..

    well put.
    A+

  4. nicely done, the last bit reminded me of the time the bookshelf fell on top of me!

  5. I think I’d have to stay awake if blades and books were around. A surreal experience. Interesting to read. Thank you.

u win perfect poet award on week 25,
    Happy Friday!

  7. very daring and fun poem

  8. hey this was interesting!! After days of serious themed poetry, this was definitely refreshing!!! ;)

  9. This poem really works my mind. The first stanza is the strongest in your post, dark and maniacal, but I love the book throwing at the end, a sharp contrast the penetrating blades. My biggest confusion lies within the second stanza. You jump from past to present to the past and back to the present. I’m unsure if this is intentional as if you’re writing your actions as they are concurrently unfolding outside of your actions within the daydream.

    • XD it meant to portray a scene where by the character is trying to run away but he was injured and couldn’t move at all, it was like as if he is in a drama or a action movie but then as the figure starting walk up to the character he lifted up the book and he think it s weird as he should be wielding a sword up to finish him instead :X

  10. LOL…The book came flying!!!..Such an interesting poem…you are so versatile in your writing:)

  11. This was a very interesting read! The story was sombre.. but towards the end, I was reminded of friends being thrown books at, day dreaming :)
A good piece, melding reality with the world of dark dreams..
