Ephemeral

I wish I can live longer
It is out of my control
It is my destiny to end this way
I don’t have a choice
life is short for me

Time is running out yet
I am not depressed
the others have gather
as they celebrate
the day of adulthood
as well as
the upcoming death
of themselves

Life is fragile
Death is just
any minutes ahead
Thinking back
We have live and fight for survival
a long time ago

The adventure is great
the memories we have together
should bring us happiness
as every minute passes
any moment from now
we will leave the world peacefully

And we shall ascend to Heaven
and hope for
a longer lifespan
than a life of a fragile
Mayfly…

Mayfly is an insect that is somehow similar to a dragonfly (There is a lot of different type of Mayfly species), it lived in the freshwater for a few month until up to a few years as a naiad with a number of moults along the time passed by. When they become fully in the adult stage, they have a short lifespan of 30 minutes to a day of living in this world, pretty fragile and short, isn’t it? Then coming back to the human side, let think about it. What would you do if you only have 30 minutes to a day of surviving in the world? Some people tend not to treasure their life and think it is as if it is what they should have. Life is fragile, a person can just go anytime, anywhere to another world if their time has come, and then they start regretting. What is the point of that? If a person is able to born into this world, living is already a very fortunate thing, having good health is even a plus, some baby can’t even get their first breath of this world and die in the mother’s womb, we are considered very lucky and very fortunate to be living in this world, so treasure your lives well and live it to the fullest for it is something precious and priceless :)

  1. Oh, I forgot to mention the graphics are absolutely stunning! I wish I could learn how to do graphics. I think it would be a fun way to express oneself.

    • :) Thank for stopping by and yes:D People always say picture means a 1000 words and I truly agreed with that=D Photoshop tutorials are always a good way to start from^^ though I self learnt my skills=3

  2. Another awesome poem I have read on your blog. This one is exceptionally well written and on such a tough subject. You write with ease regarding so many sensitive topics. Well done!!

    • Life is really fragile, and we really need to cherish it while it still lasts and it is something precious and priceless that even if the person pay one million for it, it will never change, it will never increase his lifespan to say XD

  3. fantastic poem and brilliant pic.

  4. An interesting poem, and I liked even more what you wrote underneath it, in explanation, about our good fortune in having this chance to live. So true. Keep writing!

  7. The poem has deep beauty…it has such a peaceful tone…kudos!

  8. This is a rather soothing poem dealing with death. I’m not really sure what my view on death is; sometimes I’m at peace with the idea of death because I know nothing lasts forever, not even my own life… and sometimes I’m horrified to stop and think that one day I WILL die, but I guess what really scares me is how I will die. I definitely don’t want to be crushed to death ;P

This is a quote from Socrates that I found in one of my philosophy classes in college. I think this is the best way to think about death — don’t fear it just b/c nothing is certain, just go about life the best way you can.

To fear death, gentlemen, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is not, to think one knows what one does not know.  No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of all blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that it is the greatest of evils.  And surely it is the most blameworthy ignorance to believe that one knows what one does not know.  It is perhaps on this point and in this respect, gentlemen, that I differ from the majority of men, and if I were to claim that I am wiser than anyone in anything, it would be in this, that, as I have no adequate knowledge of things in the underworld, so I do not think I have.  I do know, however, that it is wicked and shameful to do wrong, to disobey one’s superior, be he god or man.  I shall never fear or avoid things of which I do not know, whether they may not be good rather than things that I know to be bad.

    – Socrates in Plato’s Apology

    • Wow i totally agreed with these :) Just because we knew death is something bad and we begin to fear it, thats right, but to think about it. Death come when time is up, if it is destiny, sometimes the person can’s just run away no matter what. So live life to its fullest while it still last =3 You never know what is going to happen tomorrow or in the future =D
