The Drunk Man

My life was not as great
one that was filled with despair and sadness
not even God can change my fate
as I drifted into the darkest streets

I supposed this is called fate
A meeting that changed everything | A life that gone through much more
He was drunk and lost his balance
I lent a helping hand and
got a smile in return for the very first time in my life

A conversation took us further
He was a loner just like me
but he was abandoned and I am not
My eyes filled with enviousness

He had the most wonderful family yet happiness did not last
Reality is such a cruel thing
We can only try to make it better
and there is no
guarantee in life
but for now
at least
we will
not be
alone

I guess drinking will be a time when you can forget reality for a while, putting aside your problems and worries, that’s why people often got addicted into drinking and try to run away from reality. If only people around him can try to understand and care for him, I am sure he won’t be disoriented and got him into the wrong direction, trying to find a good answer on why he become like this. We all need someone by our side no matter what happen, be it a lover, a friend or a family member, loneliness can kill a person slowly without you even realizing it at all and it will be the worst death ever in my opinion.

  3. Wow Riika, I don’t know how you do it, every new poem of yours leaves me speechless. Thanks for giving us such richness and sharing your talent. I loved this, great structure xxx

  4. Love the part about improving upon reality…not sure how one does that except to dream the day away…another fine story within the poem.
